Rambai Tree is a family run business. The Rambe family! We built our lodges just prior to the Covid pandemic brought global tourism to an abrupt halt. Along with the rest of the world, we put everything on hold for the next couple of years. We finally managed to make the finishing touches to our lodges and we opened up to guests in 2023.

We no longer organise the tours, but we still have a strong focus on customer satisfation and we can give lots of advice about jungle trekking and where to visit in Sumatra, Romi, his English wife and children spend most of their lives in the UK and our sister, Tia, does an amazing job of managing the lodges.

When we built our lodges, rather than maximising the number of rooms we could fit on the land and cramming in lots of small rooms, we decided to try and provide a quality experience which complements the quality of the location.  We thought about what we would want from a room and what would work well for a family or a couple wanting stress free time to relax. The result is two wood constructed, Bali inspired, spacious lodges, with first class balcony views of the river and jungle.

We are passionate about Bukit Lawang and the jungle. We want people to enjoy this beautiful part of the world and pass on the message to others that it must be protected. We are fully committed to following the National Park guidelines and we only recommend licensed, local guides who also follow these guidelines.

The jungle around Bukit Lawang has benefited from tourism in that the presence of tourists has deterred illegal logging and tourism provides a vital income to the community. We want to provide experiences and memories in a sustainable way which ultimately benefit everyone and allows future generations to also enjoy this amazing part of the world.
